Project Operator: Arx Minerals LLC
Project Description: The Berkara deposit, Berkara Mining and Metallurgical Complex, Arc Project is a mining company, implementing the Berkara mining and smelting complex project, targeted at mining and processing of copper ores from the Berkara deposit with following production of cathode copper. The Berkara Mining and Metallurgical Complex is located in East Kazakhstan, 350 km east from the city of Karaganda.
Project’s Current Status: The project is at the final stage of implementation. Construction of Berkara mining and processing facilities is coming to an end. Ore is being mined, process stages of ore crushing and stacking of crushed ore on heap leach pads has been put into operation,
Project Reserves: 4,036,200 tons of copper ore (geological reserves), average copper grade in the geological reserves = 1.44%
Mining Method: Open pit mining using drilling and blasting operations,
Project Process Information: The project provides for extraction of oxidized and mixed ores of the deposit with subsequent processing and production of cathode copper by extraction and electrolysis technology (SX-EW) with a heap leaching section in process,
Project Duration: ~6 years (since the start of geological exploration in 2017),
Deposit Development Period: ~ 7 years, plus there is a potential to extend the development period due to reserves increase,
Project Design Capacity: Mining of 600,000 - 700,000 tons of ore per year; production of 5,500 tons of metal per year,
Project’s Current Stage Finance Status: The project is 100% funded,
Start of Facilities Construction: year 2021,
Facilities Launch Planned At: year 2022
